GORILLA GAFFE COMPLAINT TO BBC

BBC executives have received a formal complaint after a breakfast TV programme last week showing footage of Kumbuka the gorilla instead of Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon.

The complaint has been lodged by the gorilla.

Kumbuka, the 29 stone gorilla who escaped through an open door from London Zoo last week, says he strongly objected to being represented as Nicola Sturgeon.

Protests have also been lodged with the Broadcasting Complaints Commission over unwarranted invasion of privacy and racial and ethnic stereotyping.

Member of the LGTB community have also complained that the image did not reflect appropriate gender and diversity awareness.

An official inquiry has been set up under Baroness Hermione Daphne-Broon QC. It is scheduled to report in two years.

Kumbuka (pictured) is shown eating one of his five-a-day as recommended by the National Anti-Obesity Council for Sustainability and Climate Change.
