TAKE OFF FOR CHRISTMAS CRAFTERS

Home business ‘Christmas grafters’ are getting into full production gear this month.

The average ‘Christmas crafter’ spends 19 hours per week between now and December making handmade holiday goods and over three million Brits plan to sell these products this holiday season. These festive SMEs sell everything from homemade gift cards to Reindeer dust and are worth £376 million to the UK economy every year.

Additional research findings by DIRECT LINE FOR BUSINESS finds that the Christmas crafter market is dominated by women, with men accounting for just 38 per cent of those making items to sell.  Seven per cent of crafters will work more than 40 hours per week in the run up to Christmas making their wares.

And more than three million Brits plan to transform their homes into workshops making goods to sell this festive season – from homemade gift cards through candles and wine glass charms.
