NEW CHAIRMAN FOR SCOTTISH ENTERPRISE

BOB KEILLER, Wood Group chief executive, has been appointed chairman of taxpayer funded economic agency Scottish Enterprise

He takes over from Crawford Gillies in January of next year.

Bob has been CEO of Wood Group since November 2012, and  was previously chairman of the Offshore Contractors Association, the Entrepreneurial Exchange and co-Chair of Oil and Gas UK.

The appointment will be for three years, is part-time and attracts a remuneration of £514 per day for a time commitment of 1½ days per week.

Glasgow headquartered Scottish Enterprise was set up to promote economic development, enterprise and international competitiveness and to advise Scottish Ministers on all related matters.

It is a shadow of its former self when it strode the Scottish business scene in the late 1970s and early 1980s. It has been shorn of responsibility for small firms but is still responsible for a budget of £321 million.

Quite where it all goes is a mystery.
