Imagination: Scotland’s Festival of Ideas residential weekend brings together discussions about ideas, culture and politics “in a non-partisan way” (sic) from Friday November 25 to Sunday November 27. It’s worthy, but not for the faint-hearted.

There are a few sane voices in between the Remoaners, Guardianista Grinders and Iindyref2 head-bangers. It follows the Changin Scotland weekends run in the Ceilidh Place, Ullapool for over a decade.

The event is being held in Wiston Lodge, near Biggar, an atmospheric country house with friendly hospitality, home cooking – and extensive grounds to escape to when it gets too much. Speakers include John Harris, Madeleine Bunting, Alex Massie, John Curtice, Katherine Trebeck, Gerry Hassan, Angela Haggerty, Wilie Sullivan, Douglas Fraser and lots more.

Limited places are available. For further information and tickets go to –
