From Mr. Howie Firth:

Re your article last week ‘Not all investments ride the waves’: Indeed money has been lost by Scottish Enterprise on wave energy, but when you talk about marine energy you ought to remember that this includes tidal power as well, where the MeyGen scheme is making notable progress and where Scottish Renewables have steadily been developing the world’s most powerful tidal turbine which is now undergoing sea trials.

In each case the development has brought in to Scotland considerable external investment and is employing talented young engineers who would otherwise have moved elsewhere.

Indeed, if this was the US, i think that the lead story would be the progress of tidal power, not the setbacks to wave energy. Your report, if I may say so, is a bit Edinburgh dinner-table focused!
