Economy Secretary Keith Brown and Michael Russell, Minister for “UK Negotiations on Scotland’s place in Europe”, will give evidence at Holyrood today on the impact of Brexit on the Scottish Economy.

Let’s hope the evidence is of a better quality than the report commissioned from the Fraser of Allander Institute, purporting to assess the implications for Scottish trade, but only considered exports and completely ignored imports.

The work has been widely criticised for its mistakes as well as its omissions. Economist Tony Mackay points out that it was commissioned by the Scottish Parliament Information Centre (SPICe) which paid Professor Graeme Roy and colleagues at the FoA £2,000 a day for the study, without even putting the work out to tender.

Can only pro-Remainers earn fat fees from Holyrood for old EU-rope? Or can anyone join in?
