Gordon Dewar, chief executive of Edinburgh Airport and Ronnie Wayte, chief executive of Golden Charter won top awards at this year’s IoD Scotland Director of the Year Awards last week.

The judging panel, which included Ian McKay, Chairman of the IoD in Scotland, said, “Ronnie’s leadership of funeral plan provider Golden Charter has produced an excellent solid performance over a prolonged period.

The company has grown organically through diversification, a good team and Board expertise. Gordon’s motivational leadership, strong focus on customer service, improved infrastructure and the introduction of new routes has enhanced the attractiveness of Edinburgh Airport, making it a valuable asset for Edinburgh, and indeed Scotland.”

Non-Executive Director of the Year: Magnus Swanson, Chairman, Golden Charter Ltd / Law at Work Ltd / eConnect Cards Ltd / Nairn Improvement Community Enterprise / National Galleries of Scotland Foundation.

The IoD Scotland Chairman’s Award: William Martin Ritchie OBE and Dame Seona Reid.
